Thats very energy heavy.

Out of all Prot PvE builds I think ZB is the best one still, you get all of the prot goodies without loosing redbarring ability.

Very nice point there. I was trying to help TS here as the main title was a pure prot pve build. I assume that TS knows about hybrids but wants to try a little something different.

Trying not to go off topic from the thread title i decided to spread 12 div 12 prot so as to keep within the thread's prospective.

Understand your point, laksa, I was just giving the reason that you probably wouldn't see use for a 12 DF / 12 Prot split. In PvP, pure Prot bars are more common, not so much in PvE.

actually i would only play a pure prot bar, if i have a heal monk i can rely on....
but then SoD in combination with a HB healer is very effective =)

My main is a Monk, so I regularly Prot either with hero support or another player. I usually run something like the following for eight-man areas in NM:

Zealous Benediction
Dismiss Condition
Guardian (use Aegis if you can't prot well...)
Shield of Absorption
Protective Sprit (or Spirit Bond depending)
Seed of Life
Power Drain (or GoLE/Selfless Spirit depending on area)
Utility slot (Rebirth with H/H, YMLaD, You Are All Weaklings, Pain Inverter, etc)

Works great, and you don't need to change much going from area to area. If you bring Power Drain, spec 12/9/9 so that you still have 10 in Divine Favor after runes, and if you're using cons, it doesn't hurt to go 12/10/8 Prot/Insp/Divine since you'll get 10 Divine after effects, and you'll get more energy from Power Drain. Alternatively, if you're fighting Charr or whatnot, you can bring an Elemental Mantra in your utility slot or in lieu of Power Drain for energy gain and more survivability. In HM though, you need to make changes. Zealous Benediction doesn't cut it for big heals because of its recharge, so you're better off going a different route:

Elite (PnH, Spell Breaker, or Glyph of Renewal (see below))
Dismiss Condition
Aegis (great for chaining solo with Glyph)
Shield of Absorption
Protective Spirit
Seed of Life
Selfless Spirit (GoLE if using Spell Breaker)
Pain Inverter (or YAAW if no one else causes Weakness)

PnH works wonders for areas like the Maguuma Jungle, where annoying Wind Riders run rampant. Spell Breaker is more general use, and is best when you have a dedicated tank, or simply bring a decent melee hero (I usually bring my A/D crit-scythe and pre-prot). Glyph of Renewal is mainly for Prophecies areas like in the Northern Shiverpeaks where there are lots of physical attackers, and fewer casters.

If I know I'm playing with a good Healing Monk or Restoration Ritualist, I'll bring something more heavy on the protting. Basically, throw in Blessed Aura, consider Shield of Regeneration for your elite, drop Dismiss for another Prot such as Great Dwarf Armor. This is also good for the Deep and Urgoz, since you'll probably have two other Healers about, and your party could use the heavy prots more.

For the smaller areas, I made a really gimmicky build that is basically just mindless spam. Works great in Old Ascalon HM:

Life Sheath
Reversal Fortune
Shield of Absorption
Protective Spirit
Remove Hex
Seed of Life
Selfless Spirit
Pain Inverter, YMLaD, GDW, etc...

Use your prots at the beginning of the fight liberally, and when you get low on energy, put up Selfless Spirit and start spamming LS and RoF. They cost no energy for the duration of Selfless Spirit, just don't accidentally target yourself. Keep Protective Spirit up on everyone, and try and pre-cast it on yourself before fights so that you don't need to cancel Selfless Spirit. This takes almost no skill to run =P

Yeah there is little point in take Life Sheath AND Reversal of Fortune, as life sheath basically does the same thing as rof and has a 2 second recharge so you aren't going to be waiting for it to charge.

Remove hex is also less than useful in comparison spotless mind. If you don't like spotless mind then cure hex would be a better alternative, especially with only a couple points into heal. (yeah, its ok, you dont need 14 prot or 13 divine favor). And selfless spirit really should be a non-starter, particularly when you're running a prot bar.

In terms of using Life Sheath, I've been using this:

11 Healing
12 Protection
12 Divine

Dwayna's Kiss
Patient Spirit
Life Sheath
Protective Spirit
Cure Hex
Holy Veil/Remove Hex
Seed of Life
Rebirth

I like it because it has 2 hex removals (since the HB barely carries Cure Hex) and good condition removal. It helps the HB since they always run out of energy spamming Heal Party and Heal Other, Dwayna's Kiss is nice synergy with the bar and if the HB is carrying it, it helps him out too. I've been using it in HM and it works alright I think.

came up with a boon prot recently, staring the new selfless spirit. Haven't tested it yet.

PS
Reversal of fortune
Aura of faith
Dismiss condition
SoA
Aegis
Selfless spirit
Divine boon

With Aura of faith, dismiss heals like ~300hp 0.0
leaving the hex removal to the healer.....

This is just for fun tho. For any serious run, I'd still go with WoH hybrid.

A build that I was able to use to VQ Cantha and several other zones in EotN(I just recently got into VQing and this took about 2 weeks) pretty well and mixes really well with sabway or discord and has an even att of 12 prot 12 divine is this:
Mo/W
1. PnH (E)
2. RoF or Guardian
3. Spirit Bond or Prot Spirit
4. SoA or Shielding Hands
5. Aegis
6. "Save Yourselves!"
7. Summon Ebon Vanguard Assassin Support
8. Pain Inverter or Ebon Standard of Honor (TBH, I think PI is better because of ele bosses)
Anyways the concept behind this build involves using Aegis and SY to buff up Heroes and Henchies to the point that they barely take any DMG and the rest of the skills are used to help deal dmg, preprot against attacks, or buff up heroes/other allies before engaging bosses or big mobs.

hmmmm.... no.

The only time i ever run prot is on guild runs where i know the other monk is proficient enough to heal any damage that gets through. On these occasions i usually run either Life Sheath or PnH.

Otherwise WoH hybrid all the way!
